GAS??

Do you have GAS? That stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome. At some point and time most photographers suffer from this. They feel the need to buy every new piece of gear available. I could do this....if I only had this lens. If I had this camera body or if I had this or that. Yes, its your money but rarely does buying gear you don't really need help you improve your photography. Here is some advice.

  1. Start small and keep it simple. You don't need the latest and greatest camera body-camera bodies get replaced on a regular basis.
  2. Buy only what you can afford.
  3. Invest in good glass. It will last you for a long time.
  4. Consider used camera gear from trusted sources like KEH, B&H or Adorama.
  5. You might get a great deal from Craigslist or Ebay but be careful.

500 PX- Sharing your work online

The next online service I would like to introduce you to is 500 PX. If you are looking for inspiration or ideas this is the place to go. The owners of this site have done a tremendous job. Photos posted to this site look great. The site can be used for free but if you want more features there is a fee. You can sell your work or create an online portfolio. This is a place that I frequently go to for inspiration. 500px.com

Another Beautiful Day

I could not believe it. 80 degrees today. But, as most of us know the weather in Hampton Roads is always changing. I was shocked to hear that the "Toymaker of Williamsburg" is closing its doors. Here is there Facebook announcement.

We are sad to announce that after 48 years on Duke of Gloucester Street The Toymaker of Williamsburg will be closing our Merchants Square- Williamsburg, VA store in January.

We wish to thank all of our friends, from all over the world, for...See More

I did not know but I just happened to take this photo on December 14, 2013. Today more than ever photographers are the modern day historians. Have a great day.
